FAQ | FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What should I do if I have a vacancy?

You can either call or email us to discuss your vacancy, whichever is easiest for you.

We can discuss the role you have, the kind of person who will not only be successful in the role but fit in with your culture and ethos. Once we have gained a good understanding, our tried and tested recruitment methods will kick in to find and match the right person for your role.

How do you source candidates for my roles?

In order to find the right match we have a number of different routes and mediums that we use, but we begin with a search of our own database using your agreed employment criteria.

Having started there we utilise the internet very effectively to identify further good prospective candidates. All the results are screened by a specialist recruitment consultant to ensure the criteria are met and to determine whether they are likely to measure up to expectations. Experience is used to a degree to gauge if they have the likelihood of being successful in your role.

One thing you won’t get is a whole host of CV’s sent to your inbox – it’s an extremely lazy and inefficient way of operating.
Only those candidates who are at the top of our research will make it onto a short list for you – it’s always been the way we have worked and whilst it can produce a smaller number of candidates, they are always the worthwhile ones – and that saves you time and resources.

Are all your consultants experienced in their field?

Yes, each consultant in every division has significant recruitment experience of the sector in which they operate. The additional insights they possess ensure they understand and appreciate what you need from a candidate in order for them to succeed in your role.

Do you provide temporary staff, permanent staff and apprentices?

Yes, we can help you with temporary staff, permanent staff, contract staff and apprentices.

We can even help you to upskill your existing staff to ensure you get the best from everyone.

What type of companies do you work for?

We have worked in partnership with a variety of organisations in the Public and Private sectors including various NHS Trusts, Universities, international retail chains, specialist visitor attractions and many more.

Here are a few to give you an idea; Kings College Hospital, University College London, Transport for London, The View from the Shard, The British Library, The Co-Operative, Pho, Waitress, Nando’s and Hotel Chocolate.

Employers can mould their own talent in the way they want with apprenticeships

As a registered Apprenticeship Training Agency, Step Ahead can give you choices most others can’t

We are able to offer a unique and beneficial way of placing and managing apprentices, where we take all the ‘risk’, and all the formalities and administration headaches out of recruitment and employment. It’s a really popular option for numerous organisations, including some who are new to the idea of apprenticeships, and even to some who don’t have the resources to offer an opportunity in their business on a permanent basis. The distinctive feature of the Step Ahead Apprenticeship Training Agency (ATA) is that we act as the apprentice’s employer and we simply place them with you, as a host employer.
